Want to be a professional wargamer? Well, here's your chance.

For years, as far back as anyone in the wargaming hobby can remember, it's been the dream of wargamers that one day the wargaming hobby would become professional. That time has now come. Tower Games has launched a program of competitions and tournaments, offering both titles and prizes. Although the prize pool is small to begin with, our aim is to grow it in time, along with the width and breadth of tournaments on offer.

So, if you think you would like to win fame and fortune being involved in the wargaming hobby, read on.

Bull Run Tournament;
Line of Muskets, Decemeber 07, US$170 prizemoney.

Mmccalpi having his old grudge match against Jefwfunk1 came out on top and took the grand prize and is our new , and Jefwfunk1 is our new . Hollander played an admirable set of games to come in third.

Gettysburg Day 1 Tournament;
Line of Muskets, September 07, US$250 prizemoney.

Mmccalpi, fighting Alaskan Bear hard all the way, came out on top of this one, becoming our 2nd . The combined scores in the final were 129 for Mmccalpi and 123 for AlaskanBear. Right down to the wire.

Inaugural Tower Games Championshiop;
Line of Muskets, June 07, US$100 prizemoney.

Jefwfunk1 came out on top of a very hard fought tournament and took home the $100 cash prize and the trophy. Steingrim fought him all the way making Jeff earn it. Well done to everybody and we hope you all had a great time.

Concept behind Tower Game's Tournaments.

As I said above, peoples, Tower Games is now running tournaments of its great games, with cash prizes. Okay, you won't be able to buy your Ferrari just yet, but it's a start, and perhaps one day the prize pool might grow to a Ferrari-buying size. And it's quite simple and easy for anyone to get involved.

Our dream is that, one day, wouldn't it be grand for wargames to be something like a professional sport / hobby? For decades this was virtually impossible. Well, now thanks to the power of the internet, and some pretty clever programming, it's possible with people from all over the world competing in large wargaming competitions for an ever increasing prize pool.

So stay tuned to what tournaments are coming up. Either check back here from time to time, or just make sure you subscribe to our newsetter. That way you will find out all about it.

Just a few pointers. You have to be a Tower Games member and use the same email address you use for your membership.

The games will be ones on our system (obviously). The tournaments will use a "knock out" method for player-matching where possible, with "seeded" positions going to winners and place-getters in previous tournaments.

At the moment there is no entry fee, but the condition that you have at least 4 tokens, just so you the games can be automatically started. For each round there will be a designated battle which, to make it completely fair, competitors must play twice, each time on different sides. Players must complete their games within a set time period as discussed on the Tournament Table page, where you will also find who has entered, standings and current situation of any given tournament.

Winners will be announced and will receive "virtual" trophies" and appropriate prize monies.

So if you want to have tons of games and find out how good you really are, to cross swords with all the other Tower Games members, and to take your first step towards playing wargames professionally, then here's your chance. Come sign up (and when you do sign up it also means you accept and agree to the conditions as stated below).

AND get ready. Our immediate short term goal is to run a competition with US$1,000 prizemoney going to the winner with other cash prizes going to the place getters. After that, who knows. As we grow we will offer a larger and larger prizepool running all sorts of tournaments. So get practicing.

The rules for tournaments are as follows;

Official Rules (apparently we need some);

  1. Players must register to be in the Tournment. You can register by sending me an email.
  2. Any Tower Games member can register so long as they have the appropriate rank. And you must have at least 4 tokens in your account at the time of signing, the equivalent of two rounds worth in the tournament.
  3. An exception to rule no. 2 is that anyone who works for Tower Games, is mildly associated with Tower Games, or is even friends with any pets of Tower Games employees may not enter (Sniff. That means Danny, Eric and me).
  4. Who is playing who in what round will be posted on the Tournament Table. The order will be a "knock out" system.
  5. In each round each player must play the designated battle twice with their opponent, playing both sides.
  6. All games for each round will be started automatically with the appropriate amount of tokens deducted from their respective accounts.
  7. The results will be sent to the judge (me) who will update the Tournament Table.
  8. Players will have a set amount of time to complete their games, nominally two weeks. At the end of that time the player with the greatest combined point score will be deemed the winner, going through to the next round and the loser being "knocked out." Players may choose to finish the game if they want to.The appropriate dates for the given rounds will be stated on the Tournament Table.
  9. If a player drops out, the AI will take over, or the player forfeits the game.
  10. At the end of a tournament the prizewinners will have their cash prizes deposited into an appropriate Pay Pal account.
  11. Entrants must be in a country and / or state that allows playing in tournaments for prizemoney over the internet. It is the player's responsibility, and not Tower Games, to make sure all local, state and federal laws, governing their participation are followed and adhered to, such as minimum age requirements.
  12. All decisions made by the judge will be final, no correspondence entered into.
  13. Anyone trying to cheat will be automatically ejected (we can't yet think how you might be able to cheat, but we like to be covered).
  14. Prizemonies will be given to winner through a valild Pay Pal account attached to the email address the member has registered with. No other email address will be accepted to have the prizemoney deposited into.
Hope all those who enter have a great time.

Regards,

From Chris, the editor, and every one at Tower Games.
