As it says, when you make a proposal
you can can choose a "Head to Head" game (a normal
game) or a "Hot Seat" game. The Hot Seat proposal
will stay in the list in the game room, even after you exit
the game room. So then when other people come along to the
game room they can join the proposal.
When enough people have joined the proposal it will start.
Then the game will be added to your "Rejoin Games"
list, thus allowing you to do your turns whenever you like.
Just on that point, if you are the last one to join, you
still have to access the game through the "Rejoin Games"
list.
And if the other players are being a bit slack, and not
getting their turns in, you can email them through the "game
chat" window.
Be aware there is a time limit
on Hot Seat proposals. That is, if after a week or so enough
players haven't joined to start the game, it will be removed
from the list (hey, a week is fair). And in the future this
limit might be changed.
And you can have only four proposals at a time. So don't
go crazy and try to put up dozens. But, of course, once
some proposals have started as games, you can put more up.
Also, as with everything here, we intend to make this easier
and easier for all of you. We have plans for an email system
that will email every player in a Hot Seat game to let them
know it has started, and also when everyone has got their
turns in and is waiting for your next orders.
For those who are keen and want to get started, if you go
to the Club Room you will see several Hot Seat proposals
already waiting for you.
Refund of Tokens
To show we're nice guys here,
some members have had tokens expire because they haven't
been able to get a game. Well, we've turned them all back
on since you can now get a game, and before it was difficult.
Enjoy.
Bug Fix; now you can see the last turn
There has been a bug where if
people were playing a game through the "Rejoin List,"
only the last person to put in their orders would actually
see the last turn execute. The other players coming to the
game would not be able to find the game listed in their
"Rejoin Games" list. This was because the system
would say to itself, "oh, that game has now ended.
So I must now delete it from all Rejoin lists."
This does not happen anymore. Now the last turn will be
saved on the Rejoin lists of all players up to one week.
So now everyone can see whether they got that last final
objective with their last gasp or not.
More Battles on the Way
The next battle being researched
and put together is the Battle of Corinth. And I believe
there is going to be a big reenactment there sometime in
October. So this will work in nicely with all you folk who
like to take their ACW a bit further, dress up and actually
go and do it for real.
General Thoughts for the future
We here at Tower Games just want
to thank all of you for coming along and checking out what
we do. We know it has taken a long time to get it together.
But we also know that those who have played Line of Muskets
like it and say it's a good game. Which is what it's all
about (at least that's what we think).
We started this project purely as a method for people to
be able to play wargames with each other. We know each day
we get that little bit closer and make it easier for all
of you.
In the future we have plans for a "Buddy List,"
where you will be able to send a "Hot Seat" invitation
to a friend of yours and then play the game as you please.
We know that making the system able to run games where people
aren't all online at the same time has been a big change
and should now make it easier for everyone.
That's all for now. See you next time.
Regards,
From Chris, the editor, and every one at Tower Games.
