Be Warned; the clock is now ticking
That's right; the clock is ticking.
And if you haven't got your orders in by the time the alarm
goes off, well, you'll have to wait for the next turn.
What this means is every game now has a "timer."
When the appropriate time limit is reached (1, 2, 4 or 7
days) the turn will execute and those players who haven't
put their orders in will have them done by the system.
So now all games will proceed
at an orderly pace and will finish (we've had some comments
from some players that other players are spoiling the fun
because they won't put their orders in. Which, of course,
holds up the game for everyone else).
However, there is a "timer" to suit everyone.
You can choose to go fast (one day timer) or slow (seven
day timer). Naturally this is a greater incentive to propose
games as the proposer is the one who gets to choose the
time length.
And for those already in games who have not put in orders
for a while, you might want to. The default is one day.
So one day from now all orders will be done.
Please be aware that the system does an okay job. Your troops
will face the enemy and will shoot. But don't think it's
Napoleon who's sent to do your orders for you. Perhaps his
drunken half brother. But at least it won't be McClellan
(shudder).
Improvement to Gettysburg
Everynow and again it's mentioned
to us that it wasn't possible for troops to cross the sunken
railway in Gettysburg, the one that crosses McPherson and
Seminary Ridges. Of course this makes it a bit harder for
Buford, the US Cav commander, to defend his position (often
the rebs outflank him).
So we did some tinkering and now (drum roll), well, you
can't move across the railway cutting. You can move down
it but not across it.
By all means if anyone has any remarks regarding this, please
let me know.
New Battle; Corinth Day 1
Yes, Corinth Day 1 is now a scenario
on the system. We want to do day 2 as well but we have to
do more research regarding troop conditions and numbers.
That is, how many got shot on the first day. As soon as
we have this information, day 2 should be on the system
straight away.
If anyone can help with this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Future Battles coming
Next coming is Gaines Mill. And
then after that, Atlanta.
Scheduled times to go
Hey, we listen to our members.
And most of them say "I don't use scheduled games and
I don't care about them. What we like are "Hot Seat"
games and being able to put in my turn whenever I want to
and not when I'm told I should."
So, unless anyone really objects, we shall probably remove
this function. Basically Hot Seat games and all the other
functions we've developed have made this redundant. But
thought you would all like to know before we do it.
That's all for now. See you next time.
Regards,
From Chris, the editor, and every one at Tower Games.
