Battle of Omaha Beach ready to go.
Yes, that's right, trend setters. Omaha is ready and
waiting for all of you. It's madness and mayhem on 6th
June, 1944, as you get machine-gunned to death from Germans
in bunkers. You've got four turns to clear the beach.
Omaha Beach introduces off map artillery. In this case a collection of battleships, cruiser, destroyers and rocket LCTs that
you can command for naval bombardment. Also introduced are minefields which you will see along the landing beach.
Troops on a minefield are supressed (tanks have a small chance of avoiding this). Each turn a number of mines may be cleared,
the more engineers present the better the chances. Once the last black mine dot in a hex is removed the troops will be free to come out of supression
and begin advancing. Last but not least, a new troop type is introduced, commandoes.
You have a whole battalion of these and they are able to move and attack across cliffs.
If you look closely at the US troops getting out of
the assault craft in front of Vierville Sur Mer, you might
just see Tom Hanks leading his men up Dog Green sector.
And it's a freebie. Enjoy.
New Interface Functions
Given the complexity of things displayed on the map it would be nice to hide some of them easily
Now you can. Under the "show" menu are three new items to hide or show: minefields, movement lines, and barrage lines.
If using the menu is too slow for you you can use the keys 'm','l' and 'b' respectively to toggle these displays on and off.
Lightning War open source scenarios
Now we have Omaha out, open source scenarious are coming.
That means you'll be able to make your own. Go and find
a good xml editor now!
Better Game experience on the way
Soon when you propose a game you'll be able to set the
min and max rank level other players have to be. Gives
you more control over who you want to play with.
