This is purely a fictitious battle between a Confederate
division and a Union division. It has enough troops
so you can learn the basics of the game, how to move
brigades into Battle Line and Supported Line, how to
use artillery and cavalry.
Because there is only a Divisional leader on both sides
you will have to fight Pickett's Charge to learn how
Chain of Command works, and how to control a larger
army with far more units.
You will have to learn this if you are to fight the
larger battles that Line of Muskets has to offer.
TIPS
The Confederate player has to attack the
Union before he can bring his superior number of troops
to bear. In the first turn move your brigades as far
as they can go towards the centre. The next go form
Supported Line (use the TURN command first so you know
in which directioni they will be pointing). Then in
the third turn Charge whatever Union brigade you can
reach. Try and get both to hit a single enemy brigade.
The Union player has to be a bit patient.
You have more troops but they are a poorer quality.
And it is often better to shoot your opponent than to
club him with a rifle butt. Wait a few turns to get
all your brigades on the battle field. Deploy them in
a nice, continuous line. And then go and shoot at the
enemy.
Although a simple scenario, the above
dance is exactly what happens in the larger battles.
