Strategy Articles

Here are some tips about how to play the game. They are not specific instructions. For that you have to read the Tutorial and the Rules. These articles are presented more as educational, to help you learn the general maxims of war so you can become a better player.

And if you have an article you would like to consider for inclustion please send it along to the Editor and we shall review it.

(Naturally you are agreeing that you are responsible for any copyright issues, you are not plagerising anything, and you are giving us permission to use it, etc).

Our articles are designed more not to tell you how to do it, but rather to give you some ideas so that you can go away and come up with your own method. However, be aware that the things we discuss here we try to base them on historical precedent as much as possible. Enjoy.

Battle report from Danny and Shiloh1.

Danny vs Shiloh1 and Ekrommen had a very tight, nerve wracking game of Bull Run. So intense was it they wanted their after-battle report to go online. So here it is. Tells a tale for others who want to play Line of Muskets better.

To Flank or not to Flank.

The ins and outs of whether you should attack your opponent's flank, how to do it and what the dangers are.

Gen. Law and flanking at Gettysburg.

An interesting response to the above article on Flanking. It highlights what might have been at the Battle of Gettysburg at the attack on Little Round Top if Gen. Law had not changed the order of his Alabama regiments.

The art of Defence. How to frustrate and annoy your attackers.

This article looks at the aspects of defence when faced with superior opposition to you. Its main contention is you should wait for the enemy to attack you in a position that is favourable to you. Going to meet the attacker is often not very healthy.
