| Thus began
six years of fighting which culminated in the dropping of the
atom bomb on Hiroshima and Japan's surrender. Over 62 million
people died (although some estimates put it much higher).
Warfare would never be the same again.
At the start cavalry were still used. By the end radar, jets
and rockets were part of military warfare. Tactics developed
too, especially armoured warfare with the advent of "Blitzkrieg"
(Lightning War).
By the end the world was completely changed,
politcally, economically and geographically with many borders
re-drawn.
Overview
Lightning War puts you in command of Axis or Allied forces
during the Second World War. You will need to make
the same kinds of strategic and tactical decisions that the
battlefield generals in World War II had to make. Use
the combined arms of infantry, armour, artillery and airpower
to achieve your objectives. Watch your supply lines and keep
your lines of communication open or suffer the consequences!
In the multi-player games, as in the real Second World
War, you must coordinate carefully with your command team.
A well coordinated army will always beat a confused and uncoordinated
one.
